About this role
The Burdick Lab within the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Scientist wishing to pursue neurocognitive and neuroimaging research in major psychiatric disorders. Our current work is focused on identifying persistent cognitive deficits in major psychiatric disorders, understanding their etiologies, and directly targeting them with treatment. Primary ongoing studies in patients with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder focus on neurocognition and social cognition and their relationship with everyday functioning.
The postdoctoral researcher will analyze existing data and assist with quality control (QC) and the preprocessing of analytic pipelines. Responsibilities will include preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, presenting research findings and engaging in scientific communication at conferences, and assisting with the training and supervision of junior laboratory members. The postdoctoral researcher will also prepare documentation for regulatory review of protocols they lead, contribute to the preparation and submission of grant application materials for projects they will directly lead or for which they will receive direct funding, and conduct diagnostic assessments and clinical ratings with study participants. The postdoctoral researcher will also perform other duties as assigned.
