Principal Scientist External Partnerships

Job Description:

As a Principal Scientist within our Nutrition Discovery team, you will be the architect and driver of our external partnership and engagement strategy. Our Nutrition Discovery team is committed to delivering breakthrough innovations, shaping the future of health & wellness for our Accelerator brands. As a member of this cross-functional team, you will leverage your broad technical and relationship building expertise to create the external ecosystem required to accelerate our work. This role blends product development and nutrition expertise with sharp business acumen to transform scientific discoveries into commercially successful, differentiated nutrition products enabled by external collaboration.

• Lead ambassador to the external technical network. Define and execute a comprehensive partnership plan to support our innovation pipeline and protect our freedom to operate.
• Identify, lead technical due diligence, and establish relationships with the strategic technical partners needed to deliver our nutrition strategy. This may include universities, research institutions, and technology providers and external manufacturers who can fill critical gaps or provide access to novel capabilities.

• Manage the portfolio of external collaborations to ensure delivery of budget and objectives that translate directly into business value. 
• Enable collaboration between external partners and internal R&D and cross-functional teams. Design creative interactions to foster innovation mindset.
• Drive project success through influence rather than formal authority, aligning diverse teams with external innovation opportunities.

The Accelerator Division of Mars Snacking is home to 12 emerging and enduring brands within the snack bar, meals and treats categories.  Brands with strong North American presence such as KIND, Eggo, Pop-tart and TrüFrü, with opportunity for future expansion into international markets. The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
