Process Engineer Co-Op

Carmeuse is a global producer of lime, limestone, and dolomitic stone products. The Process Engineer Co-Op supports lime kiln and associated production-unit engineering activities by collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, identifying process improvements, and providing technical support to plant operations and related functions.

What you'll do:

• Identify production bottlenecks, develop and execute action plans, and assess the results
• Assist Process Engineer(s) with designs, support, research and calculations
• Provide technical support to production, maintenance, environmental, and quality
• Monitor reliability of the processes to define paybacks for improvements
• Document problems related to the process or systems as seen or received from production. Review results with the plant team to initiate, recommend, provide and/or implement solutions
• Conduct process and energy audits to identify opportunities for cost savings, including hands-on measurements with process tools
• Track and perform raw material analysis for the best use of the available fuels and stone conducting cost benefit calculations
• Monitor stone quality, size and gradation, understand fuel quality analysis and their impact in product quality
• Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and manuals
• Miscellaneous reporting as requested; topics may include heat & mass balance, downtime entry, field measurements, daily/weekly production and greenhouse gas expulsion
• Perform other duties as assigned

What they're looking for:

• A third- or fourth-year student working towards a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or industrial engineering
• Self-starter, able to quickly understand and follow directions
• Proactive, take charge and positive attitude
• Experience in Root Cause Analysis and troubleshooting
• Qualified candidates will exhibit a positive and proactive attitude with high initiative and the ability to perform with minimal supervision
• Able to do limited travel to other sites and regions as needed
• Good technical aptitude and analytical skills
• Strong Computer Skills in MS Office (w/ a focus in Excel)
• SAP or another ERP system experience a plus
• Team Player and strong interpersonal skills
• Must have a valid driver's license
