About this role

CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain building products company, is seeking a Process Engineer to manage and improve technical and production processes within its Cold Process Operations group. The role supports two production lines, troubleshoots operational issues, develops process and equipment improvements, ensures safety and environmental compliance, and coordinates training, maintenance, suppliers, and improvement projects.

What you'll do:

  • Support cold process operations for two lines, collaborating with shift supervisors, Process Engineers, maintenance teams, and hourly employees to improve efficiency
  • Monitor quality and analyze time and material losses and develop improvement action plans
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Oversee daily operations concerning inventory management, vendors, and suppliers
  • Design and develop new process systems, revise existing processes, and coordinate the implementation of projects to enhance plant profitability
  • Ensure CertainTeed Insulation’s standards of safety, quality, and reliability are built into process and equipment solutions utilizing WCM principles
  • Analyze operating problems, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions
  • Analyzes process variations; develops solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of the variations in the process
  • Responsibilities include designing / developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability
  • Interacts with Team for operational troubleshooting, process improvement projects, production materials and raw material availability requirements
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams on preventative and reactive maintenance, safety standards, and project planning
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with key suppliers for equipment and materials relevant to specific project needs

What they're looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • One to three years of engineering experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, planning, organization, and prioritizing abilities
  • Ability to analyze and solve production related problems quickly and effectively and capacity to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, managers, and upper management
  • Extensive problem-solving skills and technical acumen with working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in production schedules or unexpected challenges. Capacity to make informed decisions based on data and critical thinking and make timely decisions to keep production processes running smoothly
  • Financial awareness: product cost calculation, project payback, efficiencies, etc
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to achieve production goals
  • Proactive & Independent learning skills, flexible in assuming job assignments
  • Ability to make prompt, decisive, and self-guided decisions
  • Must be able to spend a significant amount of time on the plant floor
