About this role
The Partner Companies is seeking a Process Engineering & Data Analytics Intern to support their Process Engineering team. The role involves extracting and analyzing manufacturing data to optimize processes and assist with various engineering projects.
What you'll do:
- Extract, clean, and analyze daily manufacturing data to monitor key process metrics
- Identify operational trends, performance anomalies, and bottleneck areas to support stable manufacturing operations
- Assist the Process Engineer in planning and executing Designed Experiments (DOE)
- Organize baseline data, track variables during trials, and compile statistical results to validate process improvements
- Create, refine, and update part-specific process maps, standard operating conditions, and work instructions by metal type and design flow
- Support structured problem-solving initiatives, including 5-Why, DMAIC, and PDCA methodologies, by gathering historical data and generating data visualizations to identify root causes of yield loss or quality variations
- Prepare charts, dashboards, and technical reports to communicate engineering findings to technical and non-technical personnel
- Participate in and document safety improvement audits, risk assessments, and lean standard work processes on the production floor
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments
- Requires regular interaction with production personnel and engineering staff
- May require standing, walking, and observing manufacturing processes on the production floor in accordance with established safety requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while independently managing assigned data-gathering tasks
What they're looking for:
- Currently pursuing an Engineering degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related technical discipline
- Strong foundational knowledge of statistical data analysis, data-driven decision-making, and basic concepts of Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charting
- Interest in learning and applying lean methodologies, standard work practices, and structured problem-solving frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP, or data visualization tools such as Power BI or Python
