About the Department
This position will perform procurement functions encompassing a broad array of procurement activities in accordance with Department Policies and Procedures for the CFA Kinross Business Office. Purchasing needed supplies and services for facilities serviced by the CFA Kinross Business Office which include Chippewa Correctional Facility, Kinross Correctional Facility, Newberry Correctional Facility, Alger Correctional Facility, Marquette Branch Prison, Baraga Correctional Facility, Oaks Correctional Facility, Saginaw Correctional Facility, St. Louis Correctional Facility, Central Michigan Correctional Facility, Muskegon Correctional Facility, EC Brooks Correctional Facility, and Carson City Correctional Facility. This position must have knowledge of state purchasing regulations, rules, and practices, as well as, laws pertaining to state purchasing, and state contracts. This position will have contact with vendors for purchases of needed Michigan products or services.

Position Duties
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Procurement Technician 7
One year of administrative support procurement experience in a purchasing office equivalent to the experienced level, or one year of experience in the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies and materials equivalent to the 7 level.
OR
Completion of a one-year college level business program may be substituted for the entry level (7 level) experience requirements.
Procurement Technician 8
One year of experience equivalent to a Procurement Technician 7, or one year of administrative support procurement experience in a purchasing office equivalent to the advanced level, or one year of experience in the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies and materials equivalent to the 8 level.
Procurement Technician E9
Two years of experience equivalent to a Procurement Technician, including one year equivalent to a Procurement Technician 8.
Procurement Technician 10
Three years of experience equivalent to a Procurement Technician, including two years equivalent to a Procurement Technician 8 or one year equivalent to a Procurement Technician E9.
Minimum Qualifications
Procurement Technician 7
Completion of a one-year college level business program may be substituted for the entry level (7 level) experience requirements.
Procurement Technician E9
Possession of a bachelor’s degree and two years of job-related experience qualifies for the experienced level Procurement Technician E9 classification.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
