About this role
Southwire Company, LLC is a technology and innovation company that manufactures wire, cable, electrical, and engineered products while providing digital solutions and field services. The Product Development Engineering Intern will support engineering projects through research, equipment and system design, testing, data analysis, documentation, CAD work, and technical reporting.
What you'll do:
- Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work
- You will also collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves
- You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and community service /volunteer initiatives
- You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to a world-class program community
- Finally, our rising senior interns and co-ops are considered for full-time employment opportunities
- Conduct research, analyze data, and present findings to support engineering projects
- Assist with the design, development, and testing of new or modified equipment, components, and systems
- Support data collection and analysis for root cause investigations, failure analysis, and quality improvement initiatives
- Assist in updating and creating engineering documentation, standard operating procedures
- Utilize CAD software to create or revise drawings, or models as needed for project work
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate project progress and results
- Engage with cross-functional to drive project success
What they're looking for:
- • Minimum 2.5 GPA
- • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Science, Electrical preferred)
- • Reliable transportation to and from office in Kent, WA
- • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- • Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), solid modeling software (SolidWorks preferred)
