Job Description

The Graham Sustainability Institute is seeking 1-2 dynamic and adaptable graduate student(s) to coordinate our education program activities. The M-CCAF Graduate Intern(s) will report to and work closely with the Assistant Education Program Manager, with a primary focus on implementing the Michigan Community Climate Action Fellowship. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability education including program design, program evaluation, and mentorship. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and flexible team player who collaborates effectively, has strong communication skills, and is comfortable engaging with undergraduate students. 

Responsibilities:

• Program Support: Assist with program design, evaluation, and creating meaningful opportunities for students to engage with the program 
• Administrative Support: Assist with calendars, timelines, meetings, reminders, program materials, and other administrative needs.
• Communications: Assist with emails, announcements, social media, infographics, flyers, presentations, and other materials for students, hosts, and partners.
• Fellow Support: Answer student questions and support student needs from fellowship acceptance through start   
• Event Support: Support preparation and logistics for fellowship activities, including orientation, the meet-and-greet, and the M-CCAF Summit.
• Digital Systems & Information Organization: Help create and maintain Google Forms, spreadsheets, shared files, tracking tools, and other program resources.
• General Support: Assist with other program needs as they arise while gaining hands-on experience with how the different components of a community-based fellowship program work together.

Schedule: 5-10 hrs/week with flexible hours. Preference for graduate students with an expected graduation date of August 2027 or later; however, students graduating earlier will also be considered. There will be an option to continue work during the summer. This position includes occasional weekend and evening support, with ample notice provided.

Required Qualifications

• Current graduate student at U-M 
• Strong communication skills (interpersonal, writing, and presentation)
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
• Experience with Google Drive and Google Suite of Applications
• Interest in working with undergraduate students 
• Interest in grassroots organizing and/or community engagement

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, education, or related field
• Experience in program coordination and program evaluation
• Experience in mentorship
• Experience fostering collaborative partnerships

Educational Value

This position provides hands-on experience in sustainability education, experiential learning, nonprofit management, and higher education program administration. The M-CCAF Graduate Intern(s) will develop skills in program evaluation, program development, and community-engaged learning while working with the University of Michigan and our nonprofit partners. The intern(s) will report to the Assistant Education Program Manager, working in close collaboration and gaining skills in designing, implementing, and improving educational programs, building transferable skills in leadership, communication, project management, and assessment
