About this role

The Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center (AK CASC) is seeking a motivated and experienced Program Coordinator to support our mission of advancing climate adaptation research and partnerships across Alaska. In this dynamic role, you will apply research and analytical skills to track and evaluate research projects, coordinate communications across a diverse network of scientists and partners, and contribute to reporting and outreach that connects science with society.

As Program Coordinator, you will design and run research program reporting processes, analyze and synthesize complex data and findings into polished reports for leadership and federal audiences, and support federal and congressional relations. You will also serve as a hub for research coordination—managing the research portfolio database, coordinating the work of other research professionals, developing data management and onboarding procedures for research affiliates, and strengthening team collaboration. You will play a key role in supporting our Tribal and Community Engagement efforts, including producing newsletters, coordinating webinars and workshops, and evaluating and synthesizing what we learn from partners. In addition, you will assist with writing and publishing research findings for multiple audiences, contributing to case studies, outreach, and events that elevate the visibility and impact of AK CASC science. While this position is primarily dedicated to AK CASC, you may occasionally be asked to support other projects or initiatives across the International Arctic Research Center.

To thrive, the ideal candidate brings strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, experience working with qualitative and quantitative data and research reporting systems, and the ability to build positive working relationships with a diverse network of researchers, partners, and Tribal and community stakeholders in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys both detailed data work and big-picture synthesis, who can navigate complex challenges with sound judgment, and who is excited to play a key role in supporting climate adaptation research that makes a difference for Alaska's communities and ecosystems.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and skills in program administration. Strong analytical and organizational abilities are essential for managing research databases, digital documentation systems, and multiple concurrent reporting cycles, while excellent written and verbal communication skills support both internal coordination and public-facing outreach, including newsletters, webinars, and workshop materials.

The role calls for someone comfortable working with and coordinating work with other staff and partners, building positive relationships across a diverse network of researchers, partners, and Tribal and community stakeholders, and navigating both in-person and virtual engagement settings. Sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to combine independent problem-solving with collaborative program-building will be key to success.

- Knowledge of research methods and qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures.
- Knowledge of standard research reporting procedures and publishing requirements.
- Knowledge of fiscal processes associated with federal research funds.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize findings across multiple projects and data sources.
- Skill in accurate data collection methods and in managing research databases and digital documentation systems.
- Ability to use computerized tools to organize and analyze information and communicate findings.
- Ability to communicate research findings for internal and external reporting, including to federal agencies, Tribal and community partners, and the public.
- Ability to coordinate work across researchers, staff, and partners, and to build positive working relationships with a diverse network that includes Tribal and community stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent reporting cycles and exercise sound judgment under administrative supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and one year experience in a field relevant to the research (e.g. science, math, business), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred: Experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, preparing reports for federally funded research programs, and working with Tribes or rural Alaska communities.
