Project Accountant

RWE Design Build operates in the construction industry and is seeking a Project Accountant to support construction project accounting, daily accounting operations, and financial reporting. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, preparing financial analyses, and collaborating with project managers and internal teams to ensure financial integrity.

What you'll do:

• Support construction project-based accounting activities, including preparation of monthly construction draws
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit & loss reports
• Maintain general ledger, accounts payable files, and other accounting records
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in a timely and accurate manner
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, payroll, customer, and vendor accounts) on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Post entries daily
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other rules and regulations, including internal policies and procedures
• Partner with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and support financial-related inquiries, including collections
• Provide financial analysis and research at the account, entity, division, department, and customer level
• Communicate financial insights and results to leadership and key stakeholders

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of general and construction accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
