About this role
Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is the largest industrial employer in Virginia and specializes in building and refueling U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. They are seeking a Project Management Analyst SkillBridge Intern to oversee operational aspects of ongoing projects, manage schedules, and develop solutions to project issues while working closely with senior leadership and mentors.
What you'll do:
- Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management
- Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports
- Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
- Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients
- The intern will develop a good understanding of OCC support and basics Submarine fundamentals
- Familiarization and utilization of various web-based tools; SAP, Microsoft office applications, logistic support, etc
- Basic understanding of AWP integration, NNS planning, and material tracking
- Collaboration/Coordination with members of the team to resolve problems and meeting mission requirements
- Monitoring Vendor(s) cost/performance to schedule and contracts
- Develop and understanding of SUBSAFE processes pertaining to Reentry Certifications (REC) tracking and problem resolutions

- Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service
- Transitioning Military candidates can begin applying within final 12 months of military service
