Prosecutor Job Opening

Special Prosecution Unit

Sexually Violent Predator Division

Opening available for a prosecutor in the Sexually Violent Predator Division of the Special Prosecution Unit. This position is litigation intensive with almost every case resulting in a jury trial. The trials involve the Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators pursuant to Section 841 of the Texas Health & Safety Code. The SVP Division travels the state assisting District Attorneys’ offices with these cases, so travel is typically required once a month for trial (usually 2-4 days). This position will expose you to both civil and criminal law, including depositions of expert witnesses and defendants, to build a case of future sexual dangerousness on some of the worst sex offenders exiting the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Our goal is to prevent the next victim.
