About this role
The Purpose to Action (P2A) program is a paid community engagement experience that places students in non-profit and public sector organizations to support mission critical projects. Priority is given to students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study based on financial need, though other Pell Grant-eligible and financially constrained students may apply, as well.
Purpose2Action offers placements across a wide variety of causes, including youth development, substance use recovery, public health, environmental issues, and more. Participants are matched with host organizations based on their interests, passions, skills, and experiences, along with the needs expressed by our community.
The following is a list of just a few (we've worked with over 50!) of the Community Partners that the P2A program has partnered with to date:
Students receive coaching and support from both a site supervisor and P2A peer mentor. In addition to their work with their host site, participants take part in personal and professional development sessions, guided journal reflections, and regular check-ins with their P2A mentor.
This is a paid position ($15/hr.); participants will be paid as WVU student employees. Participants will be expected to work 10 hours a week to fulfill program requirements. The program will span for 1 semester. There is an option to continue the program for additional semesters if desired and program requirements have been met.
Applications are submitted electronically and reviewed by the P2A team and host organizations. If accepted, you will be contacted by our team for a placement interview.
The next start date is for the Fall 2026 semester.
