QA Engineering Intern

Copart, Inc. is a technology leader and online vehicle auction platform. The QA Engineering Intern will contribute to automated testing and data quality across data products, data contracts, pipelines, reporting, and analytics solutions while learning to validate data, APIs, interfaces, and software through automation.

What you'll do:

• Data quality and validation across the data lifecycle
• Testing and validating data contracts, schemas, and interfaces
• Automated testing of data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
• Source-to-target and reconciliation testing
• SQL-based data validation
• Testing APIs and data services
• Quality validation for reporting and analytics products
• UI and functional test automation using frameworks such as Playwright
• Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Investigating data discrepancies, test failures, and defects
• Understanding how data moves from **source systems → data pipelines → data warehouse → reporting → analytics products**
• Working collaboratively with data engineers, developers, QA engineers, analysts, and product teams

What they're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a degree in **Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field**, or equivalent technical education
• Basic to intermediate **Java programming skills** with a good understanding of programming fundamentals and object-oriented concepts
• Good understanding of **SQL** and relational databases
• Strong interest in **data quality, software testing, and test automation**
• Ability to understand business or technical requirements and translate them into **basic test scenarios and validation checks**
• Basic understanding of **Git/source control** and software development practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in investigating data or application issues
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with **data engineers, developers, QA engineers, analysts, and product teams**
• Academic, internship, or project experience with **SQL and data validation**
• Exposure to **data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data warehouses**
• Familiarity with **data quality concepts**, data profiling, reconciliation, or validation
