The Radiation Therapist Assistant provides support to Radiation Therapists and the Radiation Oncology department within Seidman Cancer Center.
What You Will Do- Assists the Radiation Therapists by greeting patients, completing basic patient assessments, answers phones and takes messages.
- Communicates and collaborates with caregivers to assist in the coordination of patient care, including patient preparation, verifying patient orders, patient education and providing basic instructions to patients to ensure assignments are completed in a professional and effective manner.
- Participates in patient care, including treatment room setup and clean up, transporting patients to and from treatment areas, lifting patients to and from treatment tables, chaperoning and monitoring patients and removal of soiled linen.
- Orders, maintains and ensures adequate availability of procedural supplies in patient rooms. Maintains and organizes stock and linens in treatment and device storage rooms.
- Assists with data entry, documentation and billing in Mosaiq and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assists in creating custom immobilization devices for patient treatment procedures.
- Consistently follows hospital and department standard operating procedures, guidelines for patient identification and safety, policies and protocols while meeting patient satisfaction goals.
- Displays a commitment to UH’s mission, vision and values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
