This position is in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability, has been recommended for reallocation to Administrator V.
This announcement represents the selection process for an occupied, reclassified state position. This position is open only to classified permanent employees of the Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Description of Job
The Work Unit:
The Data Systems Unit exists to provide a wide spectrum of services and support to the management and staff of the Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability (DEHS). The Unit consists of staff that provide a variety of services to division and department staff and external customers. The services include, but are not limited to data systemadministration including providing data requirements assessment, staff and local public health agency training for electronic data reporting, electronic data transfer, database reporting and data entry, external communication, social media and web site maintenance, coordination of information technology services (both hardware and software) with
OIT.
What You Will Do:
This position now serves as the Data Systems unit Manager. This positon supervises position numbers 02114, 00431, and 00075. The positions manages the implementation of a statewide data system utilized by division staff and local public health agencies for licensing, inspecting and assuring compliance for multiple regulatory programs.Key Responsibilities: (List duties from the Duty statement from the PD)
Oversees implementation and management of the division's statewide licensing and inspection data system for multiple regulatory programs and 35 local public health agencies. Determines data management needs, approves data management procedures, defines metrics to measure staff performance, and implements new processes to support program goals and meet statutory requirements. Represents the division in various state and federal efforts to improve the management of data.
Works with staff and local public health agencies to determine additional data requirements to meet program, state and federal needs and requirements.
Plan, prioritize, assign, analyze and monitor workflow, and maintain appropriate staffing levels and review progress to ensure the quality and quantity of work meets standards, deadlines for deliverables, and program goals and objectives.
Resolve employee performance problems and issues, disputes, and informal (Step 1) grievances and issue, corrective actions and initiate discipline as needed.
Negotiates and escalates service issues with OIT Department IT Manager based on SLC. Communicates needs and negotiates best solutions to ensure needs are met.

Eight (8) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

Education and Experience:A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to eight (8) years

TRAVEL
Occasional travel to train and support local public health agencies in implementation of data system approximately 4 times a year. Some overnights may be required.
