Day Shift (Sat/Sun Off Days) Semi-Monthly Salary: $1,848.91

We are seeking a positive, energetic, and caring individual for our open full-time Recreation/Music Therapist. We aspire to be a team of talented, compassionate professionals helping our clients in their personal journey of healing, resilience, and recovery, through our exceptional care and our use of the highest quality evidence-based practice. The Recreation/Music Therapist plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma informed and recovery-based environment.

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center-South provides an array of mental health services to a population primarily comprised of adults 18 years and older who have been committed to the Department of Mental Health. Clients admitted receive a variety of treatments with an overall goal to develop the skills needed to safely and successfully return to a meaningful life in the community.

This position is in our Transitional Rehabilitation Program: a program that works with individuals who benefit from the Illness Management and Recovery model with a focus on emotional regulation and behavior management.

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

-       Assessment of basic skill functioning related to services provided through the Rehabilitation Services Department.

-       Planning and implementing a wide range of treatment groups designed to meet the social, vocational, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of clients. This could include community engagement and experiences as well.

-       Case management including developing and maintaining individual treatment plans and related documentation, individual therapy, goal setting, family contact, client advocacy, and out-trip organization.

-       Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, program meetings, and department meetings.

-       Competency in the implementation of assigned psychosocial program principles and procedures, as well as program and departmental documentation expectations.

Minimum Qualifications: 

-       College degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, or related field.

-       CTRS or Music Therapist Board Certification preferred
