Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Refrigeration Engineer Helper.

In this role, the successful candidate Under the supervision of a shop Foremen, perform the duties peculiar to and normally required in, the operation of all plant and maintenance of electric, steam turbine centrifugal refrigeration equipment, absorption refrigeration equipment, pumps, cooling towers, H.V.A.C. systems, chiller plant control systems, standpipe, sprinklers systems and fire alarm systems in a similar size facility. Also demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills and following accepted procedures and techniques in conformance with N.Y.U. Langone Medical Center requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with all repairs; test, replace, install, operate, repair, and maintain all pumping equipment, using necessary hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with the responsible for update logs and documentation on a daily basis.
  • Assists with ordering supplies and equipment through manager, to maintain adequate stock for daily operation and planned activities.
  • Assists with maintaining appropriate records, inventories, etc.
  • Assists with equipment operations and maintenance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HSD, GED, trade or vocational school graduation
  • 2 years working experience in trade/hospital/research/school environment
  • NYC FDNY refrigeration operators license (Q-01). 
  • In addition, the following must be obtained in the time frames indicated: 
    • FDNY Certificate of Fitness Standpipe and Sprinkler Systems (F- 10 and F-18, respectively) must be obtained before the expiration of the probationary period (60 working days).
    • FDNY Certificate of Fitness Bulk Gas Storage (G-17) must be obtained before the expiration of the probationary period (60 working days).
    • FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire and Life Safety Certification (F-89) required within two years of hire. 
    • New York State DEC Pesticide Applicator License to be obtained within one year of employment. 
    • Any other licenses or certifications deemed necessary for the successful operation of the physical plant
  • Experience with electric and centrifugal refrigeration equipment, absorption refrigeration equipment, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC systems, chiller plant control systems, standpipe, sprinklers systems and fire alarm systems in a similar size facility desired.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,878.22 - $92,878.22 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
