Stamford Health is seeking a Diabetes Education Registrar/Scheduler. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Diabetes Education, the Registrar/Scheduler will facilitate the efficient functioning of the department as a critical member of the team. Organizes and performs reception, community wide scheduling, registration and billing duties.
This position is regular, full time.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clerical duties, including word processing, scanning, typing, Email correspondence, filing, creating new records, inputting data into the Meditech System.
- Answers telephone, provides information to callers, routes calls as appropriate, takes clear, concise messages and contacts appropriate staff in order to promote prompt and effective communication.
- Accurately schedules, pre-registers and registers Diabetes Education Services outpatient appointments with educator, either for one to one consultation or group classes.
- Obtains referrals for all participants and ensures referral is correctly completed prior to scheduling appointment.
- Provides assistance with mailings of correspondence, announcements, follow up letters to patients.
- Generates insurance estimates and provided insurance counseling to participants prior to initial appointment.
- Maintains and files confidential patient records within the Diabetes Education department. Accesses ECW system to obtain current information on the participant as needed.
- Using the current Meditech computer system, accurately enters all demographics, registers patients, inputs charges and reconciles charges for Diabetes Education Program services.
- Using current computer system orders supplies or equipment necessary for the departments operation.
- Coordinates department activities to assure patient flow is efficient.
- Greets participants and obtains necessary documents for registration.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Prior experience with clerical responsibilities or in healthcare field.
