Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.

Why you’ll love this position: This office provides a comprehensive approach to childhood care and education in Missouri. It includes programs related to child care, home visiting, early learning, and early intervention for children birth to age five, as well as afterschool programs for school-age children. The Office of Childhood is responsible for overseeing DESE’s efforts to expand and improve high-quality early learning opportunities.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

  • Conducts data that support the strategic planning and accountability for Child Care Compliance, Child Care Subsidy, Early Intervention, Home Visiting, Quality Programs, and Outreach.
  • Develop procedures and methodology to be used in researching, analyzing, evaluating, and reporting data; determines sources for obtaining data and corrects, adjusts, and interprets data.
  • Creates advanced queries using Microsoft SQL or similar tools to process data requests from Office of Childhood staff and other entities such as local education agencies (LEAs), state agencies, and the public.
  • Monitors, supports, and enhances the Office of Childhood analytic processes while providing technical guidance.
  • Protects sensitive data by understanding state and federal laws pertaining to education data.
  • Provides technical guidance for the sharing of Office of Childhood data through web-based reporting, business intelligence, and ad-hoc data requests.
  • Consults with program staff and various levels of administration in planning and implementing data reporting projects.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.

Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education technology, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, data science, or information technology or closely related field.

OR

  • Four years progressive experience working with large data sets, including data quality, data planning, and documentation. Experience must include work with using data for research, business intelligence, public reporting or closely related tasks. Experience must include two years’ work with statistical software and analytics.
