Research and Development Product Manager

Raydar is building research and data infrastructure for artificial intelligence teams to train and evaluate frontier models. The Research and Development Product Manager will define model capabilities, design experiments and benchmarks, and manage research and data programs from scope through delivery while collaborating with researchers, customers, and engineering teams.

What you'll do:

• Co-design model capabilities and research programs with leading AI researchers and technical partners
• Run headroom analyses, literature reviews, experiments, and evaluations that reveal the highest-leverage opportunities
• Translate partner requests into clear technical specifications, benchmarks, and measurable success criteria
• Curate data, build lightweight prototypes, and work with engineering teams on simulation and synthetic-data pipelines
• Own the full lifecycle of one-to-three-month research projects, including scope, milestones, quality, and partner communication
• Use modern AI development tools to accelerate research and execution

What they're looking for:

• Zero to five years of experience in AI/ML research, technical product management, research engineering, or a similarly technical role
• Strong Python fluency and practical experience with large language models, model evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training-data workflows
• Ability to turn ambiguous research questions into rigorous experiments, benchmarks, and delivery plans
• Excellent written and verbal communication with both research and business stakeholders
• High ownership, intellectual curiosity, and comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment
• Able to work in person five days per week in San Francisco
