About this role
UCSF Health is seeking a part-time Research Data Analyst to join the Gaw Lab, which focuses on maternal-fetal immune responses. The role involves assisting with data analysis and visualization, collecting research data, and supporting various research-related tasks.
What you'll do:
- Under direct supervision, performs basic statistical and data analysis. Attend virtual meetings with team members (scheduled and impromptu). Provide detailed weekly reports
- Collects research data and prepares it for analysis
- Assists with study design proposals and survey instruments
- Supports testing of research instruments and data sources
- Assists with report preparation and / or analysis for internal constituents
- Assists with evaluation and research of data reporting products
- Develops knowledge in areas of storage, documentation and dissemination of computerized data
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in related area (e.g. computational sciences, statistics, data science, bioinformatics) and / or at least 3 months of equivalent experience / training
- Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties
- Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties
- Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline
- Excellent consultation and communication skills
- Prior experience with R and/or Python
- Ability to manage a flexible work schedule
- Prior experience with analysis of “-omics” data
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines, sometimes on short notice (e.g. less than 2 days)
- Willingness to use communication systems such as Slack for team communication
- Knowledge of basic statistical methods applied in clinical research and computational biology
