PAY: $16.50 
HOURS: TBD
Shifts are 3 hours, scheduled on various dates and times throughout the year. Event dates will be communicated in advance.   

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Academic Year 

 

JOB SUMMARY 

As a Residence Hall Room Host, you will play an essential role in welcoming prospective students and their families during select admissions events and daily visits. Your primary responsibilities include being present in your residence hall room during scheduled shifts, interacting with prospective students and their families, showcasing your living space, and sharing your experience living on campus.

You and your roommate must both complete the application to move forward in the process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Be available in your residence hall room during designated admissions events. Each shift lasts 3 hours, which includes time for preparation and hosting.  
  • Create a welcoming environment for guests in your living space and answer any questions they have about living on campus.   
  • Collaborate with admission staff to coordinate tours and ensure a smooth experience for visitors.  
  • Represent the university in a professional and positive manner.   
  • Must be a current student in good academic standing.  
  • Must live on the first three floors of a first-year residence hall (Ireland, Brady, Dowling, or Schoenecker Hall North). 
  • Must not hold another student employment position within admissions.  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required 
  • Must be reliable and able to commit to scheduled events throughout the academic year.  
  • All students residing in the residence hall room (roommates) must agree to participate in the interview process.  

POSITION EXPECTATIONS    

  • At least one resident must be present in the room during all scheduled shifts
  • Maintain a clean and organized room that is presentable for visitors
  • Follow attire guidelines during a scheduled shift/event
  • Maintain open communication with the admissions office before scheduled shifts

 

AVAILABILITY 

You need to be available for most (but not all) of the following dates. Times are approximate and may change slightly.  

  • Saturday, Sept. 26, 10-noon 
  • Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Oct. 15-17, 10-noon or 3-5 p.m. 
  • Saturday, Nov 7, 10-noon 
  • Saturday, Nov 21, 10-noon 

There will be additional dates throughout the year. The dates above are large event days.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
