About this role

RTX is an aerospace and defense company, and Raytheon is seeking an RF Design Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will support RF and microwave hardware design, simulation, product development, laboratory characterization, verification, integration, and schematic capture for radar and datalink applications.

What you'll do:

  • Supporting design and development of transmitters, receivers or exciters
  • Experience designing and optimizing RF circuits – either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.)
  • Working in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration
  • Working with interdisciplinary teams – power, digital, mechanical, etc
  • Schematic capture and detailed design

What they're looking for:

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Experience and/or coursework in programming and/or simulation experience in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language
  • Experience and/or coursework with one or more of the following: Communication theory, Digital signal processing, Probability theory, Stochastic signal processing, and/or RF and electromagnetic theory
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework
  • Solid background and practical understanding of RF electronics design considerations (to include experience or relevant course work)
  • Experience with any of the following tools: Mentor Xpedition xDX Designer, System Vision, MATLAB, MathCad, Computer Simulation Technologies (CST), Microwave Design Studio, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and Advanced Design System (ADS)
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
