The Roadway Programs Technician 1 position with the Department of Transportation offers an exciting chance to support key maintenance operations in Butler County. Position Duties
In this position, you will support the planning, review, and coordination of roadway maintenance activities across Butler County. You will work to ensure that work plans, materials, equipment, and data align with agency goals. As a Roadway Programs Technician 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Plan Analysis: Review work plans and compare labor, materials, and equipment needs with available resources
- Data Review: Evaluate SAP and RMS information to track progress toward maintenance goals
- Field Monitoring: Observe maintenance operations and gather information to support work standards
- Inventory Control: Track materials, verify quantities, and maintain accurate SAP records
- Equipment Tracking: Monitor rented equipment usage, balances, and agreement details
- Contract Oversight: Check roadside service work to confirm that activities are completed as required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Butler. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes).

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
- An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
