As a Nutrition Specialist for the Missouri WIC program, you will be directly involved in providing nutrition and breastfeeding support to 116 WIC local agencies in the state and more specifically, to 28 local agencies in southeast Missouri. You will play an integral part in serving over 90,000 Missouri WIC participants each month, providing nutrition education, breastfeeding support, a supplemental food package, and health care referrals for women, infants and children. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to 28 assigned WIC local agencies in southwest Missouri.
- Conduct monitoring of approximately 15 assigned local agencies yearly to ensure WIC program compliance with federal and state regulations and policies and the WIC local agency scope of work.
- Review and approve corrective action plans (CAPs) and CAP progress reports when findings are identified during monitoring.
- Review and approve nutrition and health assessment equipment purchases and annual local agency plans and budgets.
- Assess program compliance and effectiveness through review of data from Crystal Reports.
- Provide approval for issuance of special formula and arrange direct shipment of formula to WIC local agencies.
- Utilize the Missouri WIC Management Information System (MIS) to analyze compliance with nutritional aspects of the WIC program.
Qualifications - All you need for success
- Registered Dietitian preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition.
- 3 years of experience as a nutritionist.
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- A valid driver license.
