About this role
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. develops technologies for intelligent computing, artificial intelligence, connectivity, and digital transformation. The Security Engineering Intern will collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across product security, secure systems, and cybersecurity tracks to protect mobile, IoT, connectivity devices, infrastructure, and applications from attacks.
What you'll do:
- As a Qualcomm Security Engineering Intern, you’ll collaborate with world-class engineers to enhance the security of systems and products powering billions of mobile, IoT, and connectivity devices
- You’ll gain hands-on experience protecting real-world devices and systems from attacks
- You’ll work cross-functionally with engineers and stakeholders to secure complex infrastructure and applications
What they're looking for:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Science (CS), Security, Information Systems, or a related field
- Must be available for 11–14 weeks during Summer 2027 (May–September)
- Expected graduation date of November 2027 or later
- Experience in threat modeling, security risk assessment, fuzzing, program analysis, exploit countermeasures, cryptographic assessment, cellular and wireless security, and incident response
- Skills in program analysis (source and binary), supply chain security, vulnerability research, exploit mitigations, secure execution environments, hardware security, AI model security
- 1+ years of academic experience in computer systems security or embedded device security
- Strong technical problem-solving and programming skills
- Experience in secure OS features, hypervisors, secure boot, key management, automotive safety/security, and programmatic security improvements
- Knowledge of systems security, operating systems, hypervisors, trusted execution environments
- Strong programming skills and interest in securing mobile devices and programming languages
- 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python
- Experience in OT security, application security, security architecture, GRC, threat hunting, incident response, automation, and risk management
