About this role
The Security Screening Officer (SSO) plays a critical role in supporting the Salt Lake Temple Celebration and Dedication by ensuring safe and efficient screening operations for all participants and attendees. This position provides safety and protection across Church facilities through professional screening procedures, identification of prohibited items, and courteous, Christlike service. They will become proficient in operating metal detector technology and will organize, train, and oversee volunteer staff assigned to screening entry points. They will also be part of this historic celebration and meet guest from all over the world. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

WHAT SECURITY SCREENING OFFICERS DO
Support safe and efficient screening operations for participants and attendees.
Operate screening equipment and assist with identifying prohibited or dangerous items.
- Conduct bag searches, physical screening, and entry point inspections as assigned.
- Train and support volunteer screeners assigned to entry points.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to pass a background check and meet Church worthiness and employment standards and have a current temple recommend. A limited use recommend meets the requirement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Dependable, adaptable, detail oriented, and able to follow procedures carefully.
- Available to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Two years in a leadership role.
- Be at least 18 years old.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
Candidates must successfully complete a basic physical readiness assessment, including a one-mile walk, stair climb, and lift-and-carry exercise
Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive screening movements as needed.

$27 an hour
