Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (PROTECTION)-TITLE 32, Position Description Number D2617000 and is part of the KY DCSOPS, National Guard.

Duties

  • As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (PROTECTION)-TITLE 32, GS-0080-11, you will serve as the ARNG authority and expert on all matters involving protection functional elements and integration of enabling functional requirements, policy, procedures, program status. Serve as the conduit of information between the intelligence community and law enforcement. Coordinate, de-conflict, and integrate various protection staff initiatives, policies, and activities within the state. Serve as consultant to the Chief of Staff and commanders on protection. Conduct intelligence integration and information operations to assess potential threat and create integrated protection program. Prepare Protection plans, write comprehensive all hazard plans, direct the use of security measures, incorporate anti-terrorism measures, and conduct protection resource management. Responsible for synchronizing daily operations and planning of resource management requirements for the Protection Program functional elements of Anti-Terrorism, Intelligence Support to Anti-terrorism, Emergency Management, Insider Threat, Law Enforcement, Mission Assurance, and Physical Security for the State ARNG. Receive, filter, focus, and fuse information from a variety of sources to develop an understanding of real or potential threats to state forces. Plan, conduct, or coordinates on site security studies, projects, assessments, and surveys. Represent the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations as the ARNG technical authority. May serve on boards, working groups, or committees to identify and resolve safeguards and security issues. May supervise AGR, Title 32, Title 5, contractors, and/or state employees and perform associated administrative tasks. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Must have experience in a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Ability to develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods. Experience in information, personnel, and physical security to effectively implement, integrate and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have least 36 months experience and knowledge of a wide range of security specialties to include physical, personnel, and operational security. Experience in protection functional areas including antiterrorism, emergency management, law enforcement, and physical and operations security. Experience interpreting and implementing Executive Orders, legislation, and DoD, NGB, United States Army (USA), and/or MACOM policy requirements to provide overall enhanced security of installation resources and personnel. Experience briefing and advising supervisors and other security groups at higher and lower echelons. Experience assessing data, writing reports, researching current world events, and maintaining official database information. Experience that has provided a comprehensive knowledge of antiterrorism procedures. Requirements

Military Grades: MSG (E8) - LTC(O5) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May be subject to furlough actions. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is located on a tobacco free facility. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T5 or equivalent investigation. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Must attended Supervisor Training: failure to complete Supervisor Training within 12 months of appointment will result in reversion to previous position. Must attend the ARNG Security Manager Course within 12 months of appointment. Must obtain the Security Professional Certification(s) within 24 months of appointment.
