The Senior Data Modeler is responsible for translating business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support production-grade data and analytics solutions across MetLife’s global Data & Analytics organization. This is an exciting opportunity to bring advanced data modeling expertise to enterprise-wide initiatives, working closely as part of a cross-functional team to build dimensional models directly within Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data model designs, including dimensional (star and snowflake) schemas built and deployed within Databricks Lakehouse environments
  • Develop and optimize dimensional data models, data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and metadata/data catalog assets for performance, scalability, and deployment across on-premises and cloud platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog)
  • Perform data profiling, validation, and lineage analysis to ensure model accuracy, consistency, and adherence to enterprise and industry-standard modeling best practices
  • Contribute to design, solutioning, and estimation efforts for complex, enterprise-wide data initiatives as part of a collaborative data modeling team
  • Collaborate with partners across Business, Technology, Operations, and Data & Analytics capabilities, including Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Architecture, Data Science, DevOps, and BI & Insights

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field of experience
  • 5-8+ years of experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, including advanced dimensional modeling (3NF, star schema, snowflake schema) and data vault modeling
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing star schemas and dimensional models within Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL or experience with similar technologies) to support enterprise analytics and reporting
  • Proficiency with data modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio, SQL/NoSQL schema design, relational databases (SQL, Oracle), and cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Cosmos DB, Snowflake)
  • Strong communication, analytical, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven experience in mentoring project teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally 8+ years of experience in Datawarehouse modeling.
  • Data management/modeling certification (e.g., CDMP, Erwin certification) and experience with data cataloging and governance tools such as Collibra or Alation
  • Experience with master data management (MDM), and data lineage frameworks
  • Experience in B2B/Financial services/insurance domain with exposure to Generative AI technology and tools

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is$115,000 - $154,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
