Department Overview

The Enterprise Risk & Analytics Governance function within Enterprise Risk and Compliance advances PG&E’s enterprise risk management capabilities by establishing risk governance expectations, strengthening risk analysis, methodologies, assessments and prioritization decision framework, and translating risk information into actionable leadership insights. The team partners across Functional Areas, Enterprise Compliance, Enterprise Assurance, Finance, Strategy, Legal, Operations, and technology partners to support consistent, data-informed and deterministic risk decision-making.

 

The function connects the risk architecture across our company – functional area risk, corporate risk register, enterprise risk, RAMP risk, Strategic risk, Compliance Risk.  As well as connecting with Enterprise Assurance, asset family owners, analytics, mitigation planning, controls effectiveness, PSEMS Element 3, horizon scanning, issue trends, key risk indicators, strategic risk and executive reporting into one integrated risk architecture. The team supports leadership visibility into emerging and material risks, strengthens risk-based prioritization, and helps ensure mitigation strategies are measurable, sustainable, and aligned to business objectives.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Enterprise Risk & Analytics Governance will lead operational, enterprise, regulatory, strategic risk governance, risk analytics, capabilities across PG&E. This leader will be responsible for advancing consistent risk assessment and mitigation practices, improving the quality and usability of risk data, and enabling senior leadership to make risk-informed decisions through clear insights, prioritization, Enterprise Play book, and reporting.

 

The role requires a strategic, operations, analytical, and enterprise-minded leader who can partner across the business to identify risks, evaluate mitigation effectiveness, integrate risk management into business strategy, and support executive and Board-level reporting. The leader will help mature the enterprise risk framework, strengthen analytic capabilities, and create a more connected view of risk, controls, issues, mitigation progress, and risk reduction outcomes.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Reporting

The Senior Director, Enterprise Risk & Analytics reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk & Compliance and will lead a team of risk professionals to execute the work.

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead enterprise risk governance, risk architecture, analytics, and risk integration activities that connect strategic, operational, regulatory, compliance, and enterprise risk management disciplines across PG&E.
  • Establish consistent enterprise methodologies, standards, governance routines, and decision frameworks for risk identification, assessment, prioritization, mitigation planning, validation, escalation, reporting, and continuous improvement across all risk domains.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated risk architecture that connects Functional Area risks, Corporate Risk Register risks, Enterprise Risks, RAMP risks, Strategic Risks, Compliance Risks, emerging risks, assurance activities, controls effectiveness, mitigation plans, key risk indicators, and executive reporting into a common enterprise view.
  • Partner with Functional Areas and senior leaders to identify, understand, quantify, and prioritize threats and risks that could affect business strategy, operations, safety, reliability, affordability, compliance, financial performance, or customer outcomes.
  • Translate complex risk information into clear executive-ready insights, including dashboards, trend analyses, risk narratives, decision support materials, and Board-level reporting where appropriate.
  • Advance risk analytics capabilities, including data quality, metric design, performance trends, scenario analysis, root cause insights, and risk-based prioritization models.
  • Support integration of risk management into business planning, strategic discussions, governance forums, resource prioritization, and performance management routines.
  • Engage with leadership, regulators, and enterprise partners to support risk-based decision-making consistent with applicable regulatory expectations and internal governance standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in risk processes, reporting routines, analytic products, and governance practices to improve transparency, accountability, and decision quality.
  • Build trusted partnerships and collective ownership to ensure layers of defense with Enterprise Compliance, Enterprise Assurance, Internal Audit, Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, and Functional Area risk owners to strengthen alignment and reduce duplication.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team with strong analytical capability, business acumen, governance discipline, and enterprise partnership skills.

 

Background Qualifications

Minimum

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering, Business, Finance, Risk Management, Data Analytics, Operations, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in risk management, analytics, governance, operations, finance, compliance, audit, assurance, regulatory strategy, or a related field.
  • Leadership experience managing teams, enterprise programs, analytics capabilities, governance routines, or cross-functional initiatives in a complex operating environment.

 

Desired 

  • Demonstrated experience influencing senior leaders and business partners on risk identification, prioritization, mitigation, performance insights, or decision support.
  • Advanced degree in a job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with C-suite, Officer-level, or Board-level reporting in risk management, finance, legal, operations, compliance, audit, or assurance function.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, operations organization, or complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management principles, risk governance, risk assessment methodologies, control effectiveness, mitigation validation, and executive reporting.
  • Strong analytics background, including experience with dashboards, KPIs/KRIs, data quality, trend analysis, scenario analysis, statistical modeling or risk modeling.
  • Ability to make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information, define practical pathways forward, and communicate insights clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience facilitating senior-level discussions, building alignment across functions, and translating strategy into sustainable governance routines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop concise, executive-ready materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to build formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization.
  • Relevant certification preferred, such as CRM, FRM, PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, data analytics, or similar credentials.

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

We estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed within the reasonable compensation range of $222K to $319K. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.  This leadership role is also eligible for an annual Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP) award, as well as the Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) grant.
