The Classification and Transactions Analyst plays a key role in maintaining Missouri’s statewide job structure and ensuring the accuracy of high‑volume HR transactions. This position blends analytical work, customer service, and process improvement, supporting HR teams across agencies while helping sustain the integrity of the Uniform Classification and Pay (UCP) system.
You will make a meaningful impact on the State of Missouri workforce by helping maintain accurate classification and compensation structures and ensuring HR transactions are completed correctly and on time. This role offers daily variety, combining detailed transaction reviews with research, analysis, and decision‑making. You’ll join a team committed to excellent customer service and continuous improvement.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
Classification & Job Structure
- Maintain classification standards and FLSA exemption status for the UCP system through research, updates to job families, and evaluating position requests.
- Complete job classification audits by reviewing duties for accurate allocation.
- Develop reference materials, guides, and documentation supporting the classification framework.
Compensation
- Review market data and prepare compensation recommendations.
- Research compensation trends and assist in updating salary ranges.
HR Transactions & Quality Assurance
- Approve position and employee transactions in SAM II HR to ensure compliance with deadlines, policies, regulations, and statutes.
- Generate and monitor reports to support quality assurance of high‑volume transactions.
- Provide guidance to HR teams on leave entries and regulations.
Collaboration & Agency Support
- Partner with agency HR teams as a subject matter expert.
- Participate in team meetings, special projects, and initiatives.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Assist in process improvement efforts including implementing tools and technology such as AI.
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail with experience reviewing large volumes of records.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply information.
- Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SAM II HR and Data Warehouse.
- Skilled in research, analysis, and presenting findings.
- Competency in data analysis and reporting.
- Working knowledge of classification and compensation practices.
- Experience classifying jobs and updating salary structures.
- Genuine curiosity and independent learning ability.
