THE ROLE:

The Senior Manager, Strategic Finance – Deal Advisory & Accounting will report to the Director of Strategic Finance and serve as a key member of the AI Group (AIG) Finance team. This is a high-visibility, business-facing role supporting AMD's rapidly growing AI business through complex commercial transactions, strategic partnerships, and the development of scalable accounting and financial processes.

The position sits at the intersection of Finance, Accounting, and commercial execution, providing accounting expertise and financial decision support throughout deal structuring, negotiations, and execution. The role will work closely with Business Development, Technical Accounting, Corporate Development, Legal, Treasury, and Corporate Accounting functions to evaluate complex arrangements, resolve financial and accounting considerations, and help drive transactions to closure.

Beyond individual transactions, the role will help establish and scale the accounting-related processes, controls, and reporting capabilities needed to support AIG's evolving business models. This position requires strong commercial judgment, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and influence outcomes across multiple organizations.

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a commercially minded finance and accounting leader who thrives in ambiguity, brings strong technical accounting expertise, and takes a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to complex business challenges. The ideal candidate combines deep accounting knowledge with sound business judgment and the ability to translate complex contractual arrangements into clear financial implications and practical recommendations.

You are a highly collaborative and influential partner who is comfortable operating at the intersection of business negotiations, financial analysis, and accounting requirements. You can identify issues early, develop practical solutions, and drive alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities while balancing commercial objectives with financial discipline and compliance.

The successful candidate is a self-starter with a strong ownership mindset who enjoys building new processes, solving problems without established playbooks, and driving initiatives to closure. You communicate effectively with senior leadership, thrive in fast-paced environments, and bring the operational rigor needed to support a rapidly scaling business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Deal Advisory: Serve as an embedded accounting and finance advisor to AIG, supporting complex AI infrastructure, Cloud, Hyperscaler, and strategic commercial transactions throughout deal structuring, negotiation, and execution.
  • Deal Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Business Development, Corporate Development, Legal, Treasury, and Accounting to evaluate commercial terms, identify financial and accounting considerations, develop alternative structures, and drive resolution of issues to support timely deal closure.
  • Technical Accounting Assessment: Lead business-side technical accounting analysis of complex arrangements, including revenue recognition, customer incentives, equity-linked instruments, derivatives, financial guarantees, leases, financing structures, and other nonstandard transactions.
  • Financial Impact Analysis: Evaluate the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow implications of proposed transactions, including revenue recognition, contra-revenue, gross margin, valuation, and other financial statement impacts.
  • Accounting Partnership & Governance: Work closely with Corporate Business and Technical Accounting teams to develop accounting positions, support technical analyses, and align on transaction structures and financial reporting requirements.
  • Contract Review & Risk Assessment: Review complex commercial agreements, identify provisions that may create accounting or financial risks, and recommend practical alternatives that balance business objectives with financial and compliance requirements.
  • Accounting Operations & Process Development: Lead initiatives to establish and improve accounting-related processes for new AI business models, strategic arrangements, and financial commitments, ensuring operational readiness as transactions move from negotiation to execution.
  • SOX & Internal Controls: Partner with Corporate Accounting and SOX teams to develop and implement financial controls, documentation, and governance processes for new transactions and business activities.
  • Financial Reporting & Audit Support: Coordinate preparation of technical accounting analyses, transaction documentation, and supporting materials for financial reporting, management reviews, external audits, and other compliance requirements.
  • Executive Decision Support: Prepare and communicate financial and accounting assessments to AIG leadership, CFO staff, and senior cross-functional stakeholders, translating complex issues into clear business implications and actionable recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Process Improvement: Develop scalable processes, templates, and operating mechanisms to improve the speed, consistency, and rigor of deal assessments, accounting coordination, and financial reporting.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated progressive experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, revenue accounting, strategic finance, or related finance and accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition, with experience evaluating complex commercial arrangements and nonstandard contractual structures.
  • Experience assessing complex accounting topics, including leases (ASC 842), financial instruments, derivatives, guarantees, equity-linked arrangements, and financing transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex commercial transactions, including contract review, deal structuring, negotiation support, and cross-functional execution.
  • Experience partnering with Business Development, Legal, Treasury, Corporate Finance, and Accounting teams to evaluate and execute strategic transactions.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow implications of complex accounting conclusions and commercial arrangements.
  • Experience developing or implementing accounting processes, financial controls, SOX frameworks, and reporting mechanisms for new business activities.
  • Experience preparing technical accounting analyses, supporting accounting position assessments, and coordinating with external auditors.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear, commercially oriented recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive complex initiatives to closure in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable developing solutions and processes where established frameworks may not exist.
  • Experience in the semiconductor, cloud computing, technology, or infrastructure industries preferred.
  • Prior Big Four public accounting, transaction advisory, or in-house technical accounting experience is a strong plus.
