Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager II to own the Involuntary Churn Prevention & Experimentation domain within our Commerce Product team. This role is responsible for protecting and recovering subscriber revenue across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ — a portfolio serving tens of millions of global subscribers. You will define the strategy for minimizing payment-related churn, lead a rigorous experimentation program, and drive the product roadmap for recovery systems that directly impact subscriber retention and operating income. This is a high-visibility role that partners closely with Data Science, Engineering, Analytics, and external payment partners to solve complex problems at global scale.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Define and evangelize the global roadmap for involuntary churn prevention, aligning stakeholders across Data Science, Engineering, and Analytics with long-term retention goals.
- Independent Domain Management: Act as the end-to-end owner of complex recovery systems, including advanced ML models, global retry logic, and third-party integrations (e.g., Mastercard POP) across all regions.
- Advanced Experimentation: Lead a sophisticated experimentation program, prioritizing high-impact A/B tests and leveraging predictive modeling to deploy personalized intervention strategies.
- Executive Communication: Distill complex payment health metrics and churn drivers into clear, strategic updates for senior leadership, providing actionable recommendations to protect revenue.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Lead large-scale, cross-departmental initiatives to resolve systemic billing issues and optimize the "behind-the-scenes" customer experience.
- Industry Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for global Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and Networks, influencing their product roadmaps to better support Disney’s unique scale and recovery needs.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of product management experience in payments, subscription commerce, or fintech, with increasing ownership of complex domains.
- Deep understanding of the global payments ecosystem — specifically recurring billing, card network rules, retry logic, and involuntary churn mitigation strategies.
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests with statistical rigor, including comfort with experimentation frameworks and significance testing.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, managing multiple high-priority workstreams without daily oversight.
- Proven experience influencing executive-level stakeholders and driving consensus across diverse, cross-functional and global teams.
- Strong analytical skills with hands-on proficiency in SQL; ability to use data to frame strategic decisions and justify architectural or investment tradeoffs.
Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree (MBA, Master's in Data Science, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Experience leading retention or payment recovery products for a large-scale digital subscription business (global streaming service) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of machine learning applications in the context of payment routing and churn propensity/predictive modeling.
- Experience managing complex third-party relationships with payment processors, card networks, or financial institutions.
