What We’re Looking For:
Michael Baker is seeking to hire a Senior Project Manager with aviation experience to lead the planning, design, and delivery of airport infrastructure projects. This role will include a combination of client management, project management, leading aviation civil design teams, and assigning field engineering duties, working closely with designers, contractors, and airport stakeholders in active airfield environments.
What You’ll Do:
Project and Client Management
- Serve as Project Manager and Client Manager for multiple projects and one or more airport clients.
- Prepare and track project schedules, design budgets, design quality, and progress reporting for multiple concurrent projects
- Lead client, internal design, and construction meetings
- Lead coordination between design, engineering, and construction teams
- Prepare project documentation including meeting minutes, progress reports, and close‑out materials
- Lead risk tracking, issue management, and project controls
- Lead the design and construction of aviation infrastructure projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, airfield pavements, utilities, and full engineering services for landside facilities
- Manage one or more engineers or lead technical professionals for aviation civil projects.
- Review plans, specifications, and submittals for technical accuracy, or ensure technical reviews are completed by lead technical professionals
- Perform or assign field observations to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with project documents
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and airport operations to support construction phasing and access requirements
- Assist with quantity tracking, field measurements, and pay applications
- Support resolution of field issues, RFIs, and change documentation during construction.
Business Development
- Serve as Sales Lead for project pursuits
- Identify and mine airport infrastructure design and construction opportunities
- Lead and support capture planning for identified opportunities
- Lead the preparation of engineering proposals to secure new work
- Lead the preparation and delivery of client presentations to secure new work
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 8+ years of experience supporting aviation or airport infrastructure projects
- PE license
- Experience working in active airfield or airport environments
- Knowledge of airfield pavement systems, civil site design, and construction means and methods
- Experienced in project management principles and construction coordination
- Experienced managing teams in completing small and large engineering projects
- Experienced in managing airport clients in completing airport design and construction support services.
- Experienced in preparing proposals and preparing and delivering client presentations
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $190,000 This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
