About this role
Description
CenCore is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to support advanced electromagnetic systems, secure infrastructure development, RF testing, technical analysis, and customer accreditation efforts. This role will support the development, modeling, testing, and integration of technologies for secure, rapidly deployable infrastructure supporting national security missions.
Location Note: Denver, CO is preferred for this position. Springville/Payson, UT and hybrid/remote options may be available for exceptionally qualified candidates.
The ideal candidate brings strong RF engineering experience, deep understanding of electromagnetic shielding and RF propagation, and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions. This position requires both technical depth and intellectual curiosity, with a focus on solving difficult engineering challenges in sensitive government and secure facility environments.
The Senior RF Engineer will work closely with CenCore’s advanced engineering, RF/TEMPEST, manufacturing, operations, customer, and leadership teams to develop courses of action, improve shielding effectiveness, support secure facility requirements, and help define next-generation electromagnetic protection capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Engineering & Applied Physics
- Lead research, development, modeling, testing, and validation of advanced electromagnetic protection systems and RF shielding technologies.
- Evaluate emerging RF, electromagnetic, cyber-physical, and technical surveillance threats and develop engineering solutions that anticipate future operational requirements.
- Design, analyze, prototype, and validate shielding architectures, grounding approaches, conductive composites, advanced materials, and related electromagnetic systems.
- Support product development for expeditionary SCIFs, SAPFs, containerized secure units, secure data centers, AI edge compute infrastructure, tactical command posts, and classified mission systems.
- Apply advanced engineering principles to improve shielding effectiveness while reducing weight, complexity, cost, and deployment timelines.
- Conduct RF testing, analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation in support of secure facility requirements, SCIF/SAPF builds, and customer accreditation efforts.
- Use RF and electromagnetic test equipment to assess, analyze, and validate RF performance, vulnerabilities, emissions, signal leakage, waveguide performance, EMC/EMI concerns, and technical compliance issues.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering analyses, test results, white papers, executive briefings, findings, and recommended courses of action for CenCore leadership and customer stakeholders.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for advanced electromagnetic systems and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, construction security, operations, and customer-facing teams.
- Support installation, integration, field testing, customer demonstrations, technical exchanges, and operational field activities.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to technical standards and roadmaps, and help foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, disciplined experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Travel to customer sites as required to perform RF testing, technical assessments, integration support, and accreditation-related activities.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Active TS/SCI clearance highly preferred
- Candidates without an active clearance must be willing and able to undergo and maintain a security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must provide a valid U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card.
- Demonstrated expertise in RF engineering and electromagnetic systems, including both theoretical understanding and hands-on development or testing experience with electromagnetic shielding technologies.
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, RF propagation, shielding effectiveness, EMC, EMI, grounding and bonding, signal integrity, waveguide theory, antenna systems, and advanced electromagnetic materials.
- Experience operating laboratory and field instrumentation such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, RF receivers, near-field probes, and shielding effectiveness measurement equipment.
- Experience solving complex engineering challenges using sound engineering principles, disciplined experimentation, and practical technical judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, executives, government customers, manufacturing teams, and operational personnel.
- Ability to prepare clear technical documentation, engineering analyses, briefings, test reports, findings, and corrective action recommendations.
- Ability to travel as required, including potential international travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desired:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related engineering, RF, electromagnetic, applied physics, or technical discipline.
- TEMPEST engineering, EMSEC, TSCM, RF shielding, or emanations security experience.
