ABOUT THE POSITION
This recruitment is a Senior Road Maintenance Supervisor Departmental Promotion Only. Please note that you must have passed the first half of your initial probationary period to be referred for an interview (Personnel Management Regulation 30.5).
The Senior Road Maintenance Supervisor (SRMS) works under the general direction of the Parks Superintendent and provides leadership, supervision, planning, and operational direction for Marin County Parks and Open Space’s maintenance and construction activities related to parks, preserves, fire roads, trails, and associated infrastructure.
The SRMS currently directly supervises one Supervising Maintenance Equipment Operator (SMEO) and provides leadership and direction to approximately eight Maintenance Equipment Operators. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, assigning, and overseeing daily and long-term maintenance and construction activities throughout the Marin County Parks and Open Space system, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with departmental standards, priorities, and operational needs.
The SRMS plays a key role in performance management, coaching, staff development, training, and accountability. The position works closely with the SMEO to establish work priorities, develop work in field operations, emergency response, storm preparation and response, and other urgent operational needs to ensure continuity of essential Parks and Open Space services.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate for the Parks Senior Road Maintenance Supervisor position is an experienced, hands-on leader who brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and a commitment to providing high-quality maintenance and construction services throughout Marin County Parks and Open Space.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading maintenance, construction, or public works crews and will be comfortable balancing daily operational demands with long-term planning and program priorities.
