Role Overview

Join Goldman Sachs’ Digital Assets Engineering team and help build institutional-grade tokenization capabilities across Global Markets and Banking. The team is developing scalable, secure, and interoperable digital-asset products and workflows spanning securities, funds, collateral, and digital cash.

As a Vice President-level Senior Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on technologist responsible for designing and delivering multi-asset tokenization solutions using Canton and Daml. You will work closely with business, product, operations, control functions, and engineering teams to translate complex market, regulatory, and operational requirements into robust production platforms.

This role is suited to an expert-level engineer with deep Daml/Canton expertise, strong capital-markets domain knowledge, and a track record of delivering secure, resilient, enterprise-scale distributed-ledger solutions.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

  • Architect, design, and implement production-grade Daml smart contracts for the Goldman Sachs digital-assets platform.
  • Design and deliver multi-asset tokenization workflows across securities, funds, collateral mobility, and digital-cash use cases, incorporating on-ledger contracts, off-ledger services, workflow orchestration, and automation.
  • Model and implement end-to-end asset lifecycles, including issuance, registry and custody, distribution, settlement, cash management, corporate actions, and asset servicing, where applicable.
  • Design secure and privacy-aware Canton solutions, including participant topology, party and identity models, authorization, data visibility, synchronizer connectivity, package deployment, and operational controls.
  • Establish and promote engineering standards for Daml model design, contract lifecycle management, testing, package versioning, observability, performance, resilience, and secure software delivery.
  • Integrate tokenization workflows with enterprise and external systems, including custody and wallet platforms, cash-settlement rails, identity and compliance services, transfer-agent capabilities, books-and-records systems, and client applications.
  • Evaluate emerging blockchain protocols, smart-contract, interoperability, privacy, and cryptographic technologies, and assess their relevance to institutional tokenization products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Tokenization expertise: Significant hands-on experience designing and delivering production tokenization systems within a financial services or similarly regulated enterprise environment.
  • Strong expertise in Daml smart-contract engineering including: (a) complex Daml templates, choices, contract keys, signatories and authorization; (b) Daml interfaces and reusable package design; (c) Contract lifecycle and archival patterns; (d) Privacy and selective-disclosure design; (e) Upgrade-safe Daml contract design, upgrade execution, and DAR packaging; (f) Automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Demonstrable experience with Canton architecture and operations including: (a) Canton participant nodes, parties and ledger APIs; (b) Distributed-ledger deployment patterns and synchronizers connectivity; (c) Package deployment, node observability and operational controls; (d) High availability, resilience, disaster recovery.
  • Strong capital-markets and tokenization domain expertise across one or more relevant asset classes, such as: (a) Securitized products, including mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities; (b) Equities and equity-linked instruments; (c) Repo, securities financing, and collateral; (d) Money-market funds, alternative investment funds; (e) Tokenized deposits, regulated stablecoins, or digital cash.  (f) Proven ability to design “need-to-know” workflows that appropriately protect confidential client, trading, position, and transaction data.
  • Practical understanding of institutional asset lifecycles, including issuance, investor eligibility, registry, custody, wallet and account management, primary distribution, restricted transfers, FoP / DvP settlement and settlement finality, corporate actions, income distributions, asset servicing, and reporting.
  • Strong event-driven, API-first, enterprise architecture experience using Java and/or TypeScript, REST/gRPC, Kafka or equivalent event-streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with CIP and Token standards (CIP-56 or CIP-112). Minimum 5+ years of experience in Canton and Daml development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with developing tokenization platforms in EVM-based blockchain, using Solidity, RUST, etc.
  • Experience with multi-chain interoperable bridge and protocol, Zero Knowledge Proof cryptography.
  • Experience with Agentic AI Engineering and specification-driven development (SDD) best practices, including the design of governed AI agents, tool orchestration, loop engineering and evaluation frameworks, human-in-the-loop controls, and traceable software specifications for complex enterprise workflows.
