Settlement Accountant I

Merrick Bank is hiring a Settlement Accountant I to perform daily and monthly reconciliations that help ensure merchant settlements and ISO statements are accurate and timely. The role supports general ledger account reconciliation, journal entries, reporting, and the month-end close process within the Merchant Accounting group.

What you'll do:

• Reconciles and clears assigned general ledger accounts, develops an understanding of account activity, and researches variances in a timely manner
• Enters daily journal entries in Oracle Cloud, ensuring required approvals are obtained and appropriate supporting documentation is attached
• Prepares a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly schedules
• Supports the month-end close process by meeting established deadlines and distributing applicable reports and schedules to the appropriate stakeholders
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Responsible for complying with all the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures
• Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject
• Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts

What they're looking for:

• Associate degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email, database applications, and accounting software
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively across departments
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions presented in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time-management skills
• One (1) to two (2) years + experience in finance
• Experience with Oracle Financials
