Site Reliability Engineering Professional Intern - Austin, TX - 2027

IBM is seeking a motivated early-career professional to support enterprise infrastructure and technology operations. The intern will gain hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Networking Reliability Engineering, system administration, network operations, automation, monitoring, and incident response.

What you'll do:

• Assist in maintaining and supporting enterprise IT systems including servers, virtual machines, and cloud environments
• Monitor system performance and help identify reliability issues
• Support automation efforts for routine administrative tasks using scripting tools
• Participate in incident response and post-incident analysis
• Help document system configurations, operational procedures, and reliability metrics
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure and service delivery
• Assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls
• Support day-to-day network operations, troubleshooting connectivity issues and escalating as needed
• Participate in network performance analysis and reporting
• Learn and apply automation techniques to reduce manual tasks and improve reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network upgrades, deployments, and incident response
• Document network configurations, procedures, and reliability metrics

What they're looking for:

• Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or similar
• Understanding of Linux operating systems and cloud computing fundamentals
• Knowledge of networking concepts, APIs, and distributed systems
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with cloud platforms and container technologies such as Kubernetes
• Exposure to monitoring and observability tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices
• Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles
