About this role

IBM is seeking an early professional intern to support enterprise IT systems and develop skills in Site Reliability Engineering and Networking Reliability Engineering. The role involves infrastructure and network administration, monitoring, automation, incident response, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration on reliability and service delivery initiatives.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in maintaining and supporting enterprise IT systems including servers, virtual machines, and cloud environments
  • Monitor system performance and help identify reliability issues
  • Support automation efforts for routine administrative tasks using scripting tools
  • Participate in incident response and post-incident analysis
  • Help document system configurations, operational procedures, and reliability metrics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure and service delivery
  • Specific to Networking Admininistrator and NRE role:
  • Assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Support day-to-day network operations, troubleshooting connectivity issues and escalating as needed
  • Participate in network performance analysis and reporting
  • Learn and apply automation techniques to reduce manual tasks and improve reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network upgrades, deployments, and incident response

  • • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or similar
  • • Understanding of Linux operating systems and cloud computing fundamentals
  • • Knowledge of networking concepts, APIs, and distributed systems
  • • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • • Experience with cloud platforms and container technologies such as Kubernetes
  • • Exposure to monitoring and observability tools
  • • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
  • • Experience with Git and modern software development practices
  • • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles
