Position Summary
This is skilled manual work at the journeyman level in several of the skilled trades. An individual in this class has general construction and maintenance responsibilities for a large facility(s). Duties involve performing the actual work and in some cases, supervising unskilled or semi-skilled workers in the tasks. Work is performed under general supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use standard hand tools and equipment common to the mechanical and structural trades.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards of: mechanical and electrical building equipment; tools and equipment associated with maintenance activities
- Ability to relate well with others (customers, co-workers, supervisors, etc…)
- Ability to learn and use basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform routine troubleshooting of MEP systems.
- Ability to perform administrative functions related to building systems maintenance (complete forms, record filing, etc..)
Physical Demands
Standard requirements of the trades:
- Stand, walk, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, work from standard and/or extended ladders.
- Lift up to 75 lbs during a normal work shift.

Assists HVAC mechanics and HVAC Controls Technicians in the performance of high level maintenance activity.

Assists other shop tradesman (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.) with tasks associated with their assigned work orders.
