Sleep Tech Trainee UPMC Memorial

Purpose:
Under the supervision of physicians and in the presence of a Registered Sleep Technologist (RPSGT, or RRT-SDS, or RST), the Sleep Technician Trainee is responsible for performing patient care duties and providing customer service to clients of the sleep center, while completing the ASTEP program and on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:
 

• Must enroll and complete the ASTEP program within 1 year of hire.
• While under direction of senior sleep lab staff according to department policy and procedure:• Prepare patients for sleep testing• Educate patients on sleep lab testing procedure • Analyze and score sleep studies• Perform therapeutic treatments and interventions• Inventory and restock lab supplies• Clean equipment and patient rooms• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complete monthly ISR as a training scorer.Attend monthly staff meeting and required department/facility training.Performs duties in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.

HS diploma (required) and 6 months relevant experience in an allied-health field (preferred).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Enroll/complete ASTEP in 60 days; RST, CPSGT, or RPSGT in one year (if CPSGT, must obtain RPSGT within three years).BLS required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
