Software Architecture Engineer Intern

Ambarella develops AI vision processors for edge applications that extract valuable data from high-resolution video streams. The Software Architecture Engineer Intern will study hardware and software trade-offs, develop software models and visualization tools for hardware co-processors, and create support tools that enable efficient hardware use.

What you'll do:

• Architecture interns study hardware and software trade-offs present in the latest version of our chips and explore uses of both to solve real-world problems
• Interns may develop software models of important behaviors in hardware co-processors such as memory bandwidth and pipeline latency or develop visualization tools to illustrate architecture behavior
• Interns produce support tools to enable software to make efficient use of hardware co-processors
• A final presentation at the end of the internships describes their findings and allows other team members to use their work for ongoing projects

What they're looking for:

• Self-motivated and creative students near completing of their master's degree
• A strong interest in computer architecture, VLSI design, image processing, video compression, and computer vision
• Experience in modern programming languages and computer architecture
• C++, C, Python, Perl, and assembly are our popular tools
• Exposure to common neural networks frameworks such as Caffe or TensorFlow helps
• We expect that interns will be able to pick up missing skills quickly, deliver their assignments on time, and present their work at the end of the program
