Software Development Engineering Intern

Trane Technologies develops sustainable and efficient climate solutions for buildings, homes, and transportation. The Software Development Engineering Intern will contribute to scalable digital and control solutions for HVAC and Building Automation Systems by writing code, developing features, debugging issues, testing software, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and presenting a capstone project.

What you'll do:

• Write and maintain clean code using Python, C++, or JavaScript
• Develop new features for controls and digital platforms and service tools under guidance from senior developers
• Debug and resolve technical issues across the software development lifecycle
• Write automated unit tests to ensure high code quality and coverage
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams like Product, Hardware, UX/UI, and QA
• Present an internship capstone project to engineering leadership at completion

What they're looking for:

• Current enrollment in a degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
• Solid foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Hands-on experience with at least one programming language through coursework or personal projects
• Basic familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub
• Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn new technologies quickly
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical teamwork
