Software Engineer 1

Seerist is a provider of AI-driven augmented analytics for threat and risk intelligence. The Software Engineer 1 will build data ingestion and processing infrastructure for real-time intelligence, including high-volume pipelines, event-driven systems, database optimization, observability, and production debugging across distributed systems.

What you'll do:

• You'll design and build high-volume data pipelines, architect event-driven systems that process intelligence data at scale, optimize queries and schemas for heavy load, instrument services for observability, and debug production issues across distributed systems
• You'll work directly with our intelligence analysts and product team to understand requirements and ensure software meets both performance and analytical needs

What they're looking for:

• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and other modern languages
• Experience designing and debugging event-driven systems (EventBridge, message queues, async patterns, orchestration)
• Experience building high-volume, low-latency data ingestion and processing pipelines; understanding of batch vs. real-time tradeoffs
• Hands-on work with SQS, S3, ECR, AWS CDK; comfortable reasoning about cloud infrastructure costs and scaling
• Working knowledge of both relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB); experience optimizing queries and schema design for high-volume workloads
• Experience with in-memory data stores (Redis), familiarity with OpenSearch/ElasticSearch (full-text search, indexing strategies)
• Proficiency with Datadog or similar monitoring tools; ability to instrument code for observability and debug production issues
• Understanding of service boundaries, async communication patterns, and debugging across distributed systems
• Comfortable with AWS CDK or similar tools for defining infrastructure in code
• Comfortable leveraging AI tooling for development acceleration, building custom skills, and automating repetitive tasks
• Based in the greater Washington, DC metro area, in our Reston office three days per week, with the flexibility to work on site as the program requires
