Qualifications

 

Software Engineer Indiana University (Indianapolis, IN). Perform systems analysis and programming related to the design, development, testing, and configuration of IU systems. Duties include: code computer programs; develop program module test procedures; generate required test data and execute testing procedures; use and develop software engineering best practices; collaborate with leaders, functional clients, development and infrastructure teams on implementation and support of systems; assess client needs; make critical decisions about use of IT and improving overall business process efficiency; translate requirements for tasks or with a moderate scope into technical specifications; provide support for functional testing and productions use of web systems; and, work with functional users to diagnose problems encountered during testing and provide production support. Reqs. Bachelor' s degree in Computer Science or closely related technical field. Requires 2 years experience as a software engineer, which must include experience in: developing and maintaining enterprise websites using the Cascade CMS, including use of the Velocity template language for content rendering, template customization, and CMS component development; developing web applications using the Laravel PHP framework, including implementation of MVC patterns, routing, middleware, ORM/Eloquent models, and automated build/deployment workflows; developing software using the following web technologies: JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, and XML; working with relational databases, including MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server, encompassing schema design, query optimization, stored procedures, and integration with application frameworks; implementing and integrating RESTful APIs, including authentication, stateless application design, performance optimization, and robust error-handling patterns; using Git-based version control systems, including GitHub pull-request workflows, code review processes, and branch-based release management; and, using containerized local development environments, including Docker configuration, multi-container environments, and environment parity between development and production. Requires demonstrated proficiency with: developing web applications that comply with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, including semantic HTML, ARIA practices, and automated/manual accessibility testing; diagnosing and remediating application performance bottlenecks in PHP/Laravel or Velocity-based systems, including code-level optimization and database query tuning; creating reusable CMS components, automated publishing workflows, or data-driven page templates within Cascade CMS or comparable enterprise CMS platforms; integrating web applications with centralized authentication and identity management systems using industry-standard protocols; and, developing user interfaces using modern, component-based design systems or front-end frameworks.
