Software Engineer

Pantex is seeking a Software Engineer to support national security through the development and optimization of enterprise-wide and business-critical systems. The role focuses on technical design, application development, implementation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and technical leadership for high-quality software solutions.

What you'll do:

• Work closely with functional and business team members, project management, enterprise architects, system engineers, and application developers to design and develop or modify, enterprise-wide, or business-critical applications based on approved architecture and business requirements
• Design and implement innovative solutions to resolve complex Information Technology (IT) and business problems
• Lead technical projects through effective communication with peers, customers and management
• Ensure solutions are well-engineered, optimized, operable, and maintainable while also ensuring adherence to defined project management policies, change management guidelines, cyber security requirements and software quality assurance processes
• Prepares and maintains documentation related to computer systems and programs in accordance with established procedures
• May provide leadership in IT strategic direction in including technology, architecture, cyber security, and support. As needed leads or participates in evaluating future requirements and aids in the selection of new software
• Coordinates research and/or design projects to accomplish assigned responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner. Prepares or reviews written reports and makes recommendations for use by management and other agency representatives
• Responsible for improving general system knowledge, leadership skills and capabilities, and providing technical consultation as required. May lead System Design and User Interface Design efforts on new systems
• Accountable for all direct output assigned and for providing direct output support to his/her manager

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
• Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline
• Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 8 years of completed education and/or relevant experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required
• Preferred candidates will have a Bachelors' or Masters' degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related technical/science degree
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming/Design, Web Development, Database programming, debugging
• Experience with React, JAVA, Java Script, Text Script, and Type Script
• Experience in designing, maintaining, and implementing large scale enterprise business applications is desired
• Experience with Agile SCRUM development projects
• Experience supporting and developing on hand-held devices
• Strong understanding of Object-oriented Design concepts such as inheritance, composition, and encapsulation
• Oracle or other relational database management systems with experience in Structured Query Language (SQL)
