Software Engineer, Backend Intern

Prophet Security is building a platform that automates complex security operations and helps security teams investigate threats. The Backend Software Engineering Intern will contribute to backend systems that ingest, process, and reason over large volumes of security data, while building production code and owning a project from development through deployment.

What you'll do:

• Contributing to extensible frameworks for integrations with third-party security systems, including SIEMs, EDR/XDR platforms, identity providers, and cloud and SaaS logs
• Building reliable backend components that support fast customer onboarding and compelling proof-of-value experiences, from data ingestion to actionable insights
• Helping design storage, indexing, and access patterns for highly dimensional, time-oriented security data used in real-time analysis and historical investigations
• Developing and evaluating agents and automation that help security teams investigate threats more quickly and effectively
• You’ll write production code, participate in technical design, receive mentorship from experienced engineers, and take meaningful ownership of a project from development through deployment

What they're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date in 2027
• Experience with one or more relevant programming languages, such as Python or Go, through coursework, research, internships, or personal projects
• Understanding of fundamental software engineering concepts, including data structures, algorithms, testing, and system design
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively and learn in a fast-moving environment
• Passion for building high-quality products and solving customer problems
• Experience with backend services, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, or machine learning is helpful but not required
