About this role
Meta is seeking experienced engineers to join our Central Growth team, the org responsible for maximizing user growth across every Meta app and device. We were one of Meta's first growth teams and have helped more than 3 billion people find value in Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, Meta AI and our wearables. We build and optimize the centralized levers the entire company depends on (access and identity, notifications, friending, cross-app linking, onboarding, SEO, and global distribution partnerships), and we own the platforms that unify the family of apps under a single Meta Account. The work is high-leverage by construction: a single change can move the trajectory of a billion-user product, and increasingly we are building AI-native systems so growth scales out-of-the-box to every new product Meta launches. If you want to work on products and platforms with immediate, measurable impact at global scale, this is where you belong.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, operations, infrastructure) to build innovative application experiences.
- Implement custom user interfaces using latest programming techniques and technologies.
- Analyze and optimize code for quality, efficiency, and performance, and provide feedback to peers during code reviews.
- Set direction and goals for teams, lead major initiatives, provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers, and help onboard new team members.
- Architect efficient and scalable systems that drive complex applications.
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues, and drive large efforts to reduce technical debt.
- Work on a variety of coding languages and technologies.
- Establish ownership of components, features, or systems with expert end-to-end understanding.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of programming experience in a relevant language OR 4+ years experience with a PhD
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Programming experience in a relevant language
- Demonstrated experience driving change within an organization and leading complex technical projects
- Experience utilizing data and analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback and solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years relevant experience building large-scale infrastructure applications or similar experience
- Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes
- Experience in programming languages such as C, C++, or Java, and scripting languages such as Python, Javascript, or Hack
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Compensation
- $183,997/year - $257,000/year; Country: US; Bonus eligible; Equity eligible
